Why a blog?

Blogging. Something I never felt a need to do until now.

Why now? I need a way to share information with a minimum of effort on my part. I want my friends and family to be kept "in the loop"; to give you a place to go for the latest news, and a place for you to leave a message for me. It is my way of keeping you all close. It is my way of sharing my emotions and reactions, especially during this rough patch.

My focus is strongly on my daughter, Kelly, as she is forced to go a second round fighting the beast of Breast Cancer. Kelly has her own blog on CaringBridge.org but I wanted to share my point of view as a caregiver and supporter, doing what I can whether nearby (in Albany) or from afar (back home in Georgia).

I hope to use this blog to keep you up to date on how we are all dealing with this unfortunate turn of events. Feel free to leave comments or to ask questions if I have not made things clear enough.

This is my first attempt at blogging, so be patient with me. Spend as much or as little time as you wish traveling the long road ahead with us.

Be healthy.
Barbara

  3. Barb,

Thanks for the info on Caring Bridge, it's so helpful to keep up with Kelly. This site is helpful to keep up with you! Please know we are praying HARD for all of you. I know how helpless I feel right now, I can't even begin to imagine where all of you are at. Please be sure to keep your health up also! Y'all came from strong stock so don't forget that. But don't forget to grieve too. Equally important! I am here for you always... just call anytime.

    Love to all,

    Linda

  5. Hi Tom and Barbara,
From all reports, the weather has been very rainy all summer. We did everything in the house that you requested. Everything is fine. We also had some rain so everything has gotten watered well. The mail has stopped as of yesterday. I sent your mail priority mail, so you will receive it shortly. You will be hearing from Pam, as I gave her Erin's address today. Everyone is praying for all of you. I haven't had a chance to finish the envelopes, because I just returned Sharon's children yesterday and the rest left on Tuesday. We had a good weekend with all. It is good we have this model with a basement. Sharon and Taylor spent two nights at Peggy's. I'll keep in touch Love, Mary and Jack

  6. Hi, Barbara and Tom. Pam shared your blog address with me tonight and I just wanted to let you know we think of you often and are praying daily for Kelly and you both. Having been through this I know the stress the family shares along with the cancer patient. Had 3 tables of dominos on Monday night but I tried my luck with Mau Jong (you know I shouldn't play it if I don't know how to spell it)but I think I kind of like it. Tonight was the Fantasy Football draft and the ladies brought food and it was a nice evening. We keep hoping for some rain from Hurricane Fay but it hasn't made it here yet. Take care of yourselves and we miss you. Peggy & Jim
